Because it seems the engine responds better to smaller jets, in my case a 150 pilot (which seems lean) and a 168 main (which seems lean and still needs to be smaller).
The top end is fresh, I am running 110 octane at 32:1, I am in the initial break in period with this engine and am trying to do a few jetting passes. I am finding that the leaner I go with the jetting, the better the engine runs, however I do not want to go to lean though.
WOT tuning is where it is most difficult, there is a 168 main but it seems that this is still to rich and the engine is sluggish and bogs with this jet. I am afraid to continue to go lower.

yo udont have a 150 pilot... it is probably a 50 pilot ,168 doesnt seem too terribly off , just becasueits a big bore doesnt mean it is going ot be drasticlly different thqan other 250 setups.Iwouldnt be afraid to go down a couple sizes til lit clears up,just keep a close eye on the plug and listen to what it wants
