this method should work, we used to fix dents in metal gas tanks like that back in the day. but if you have a big enough dent in the expantion chamber then my advise would be to get a new one because usually your low end hit will be a little funky,but if the money is the issue then i think the water & freezer idea is probably your best bet. JMO.
