In announcing the new emissions standards in for 2007 and on, the EPA said the rules "encourage manufacturers of these vehicles to switch from two-stroke engines to cleaner four-stroke engines, beginning in 2007" for trail machines.

The federal agency is exempting racing machines from the strict emissions standards, so motocrossers won't be affected, Meaning two stroke Dirt bikes will stay the same, and left the door open for the production of a new breed of two-stroke engines by creating a twice as more powerful two stroke than in the past, special less-stringent emissions standard for "certified competition machines" that could be used for competition and trail riding.

yea, either way, they still got rid of all the 2stroke quads
so your saying that they are still going to make 2stroke bikes

The EPA is the devil... if you look at some of the 2007 stuff, even weedwackers they put mufflers on them the size of a frickin watermellon to filter out all the shit... mean while its restrict the engine from breathing.. same way with the quads,. They brag about how they are 90% cleaner and so on and so on and all it looks like they did was slap on a damn more restricting exhasut so that it takes you 10.5 years to go from 0-60mph... and im almost possitive that is harder on teh engine

Honda actually built a low emissions 2 stroke back in '97. Too bad beauracratic BS decisions based on under the table money and whiners control our democratic society.

We use Stihl weedeaters for our lawncare business. We have to take all sorts of crap out the muffler so they run. The spart arrestor etc gets VERY clogged.

Anyways, i wish it expected 2 stroke 4 wheelers too. I'd like to see them bring back the banshee and perhaps new 2 stroke quads as well.

I have a couple Stihl 460s that i use for work and i gutted the mufflers completely they run 100% better.
