| "Get ready for a serious comeback of two-strokes in the near future with engines that can compete with four-strokes head-to-head in emission cleanliness, fuel economy, and ride-ability, all the while retaining power, size, and weight advantages over four-strokes." The future is looking good, really good.

| Bumping the thread, you guys should prolly check into this article, it's pretty fuckin cool. |

| Dang, gee, and all that. Honda produced that engine back in the 90's. That is some seriously old news. It was labelled the 3-stroke and Honda was still working it's ass off trying to get it approved by the EPA as far back as 2000. Were it going to be a widely produced engine in the form presented in the atricle, I'd bet we'd have seen it by now. I'm not holding my breath.

| thats some pretty cool stuff.... thats like those Evinrude 2 stroke outboard motors,, ever seen those late night informercials on them? they say they run cleaner than a 4 stroke... and OF COURSE have more power.. its a shame all the people i ride with are so brain washed on these 4 strokes. im not biast at all, 4 strokes are nice.. they have their good points.. and i will admit it, but it seems on thje other hand, 4 stroke owners, will not give 2 srokes any credit.. i think they are just mad/jelous that we smoke them with motors half the size.... :-) |

| Probably. I dunno when the article was dated, but if it's modern, and they're racing it then we might see something like it in the near future for production machines. We can hope anyhow. |

| Here, the majority of the 4 stroke out board marine engines are on the big off shore boats and high dollar bass boats. It's the for rich guys who can afford all the extra work the comes with the 4 strokes. Or the avertage guy who gets sucked in by the salesman. My dad sure isnt getting ride of his 2 stroke outboard motor though!

| Honostly with all due respect, its never going to happen. The EPA (Ann Arbor, MI) is WAY too strict when it comes to emissions. As you can see The 2 stroke quads are done in the US, Dirt bikes will be completly done in 2010 if I remember correctly, with the exception of anything less than a 100cc motor. Its gonna be widespread nationwide lockdown on the new emmission regulations. its getting bad. I know this isnt 2strokes, but a reference to new emissions rules and regulations is the crack down on diesels now. I mean if you look at the catylitic converter on a 2006 Super Duty compared to what your going to see on the new 2008s The size of the 2008s is about the size of a 40 gallon gas tank, the ones on the older ones are about smaller than a muffler from a 2.0L car. They are also required to state fuel economy on the window sticker. The EPA is cracking down hard, and going to severly cripple the powersports era, I mean even streetbikes are getting cat converters from the factory... A damn 4stroke motorcycle. So I wouldnt be surprised once they seize all production of 2strokes in the next few years, even weedwhips, blowers, lawn mowers, snow blowers.... its going to be insane.... Anyways, great thoughts, we could only wish!
