Western Oregon Resource Management Plans Update


As you know, the District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is preparing a new Resource Management Plan (RMP) for BLM lands in the John Day Basin. Work to revise and consolidate the existing John Day (1985), the Two Rivers (1986), and the Baker (1989) Resource Management Plans, which began last year continues.

In June, the BLM will release their Draft Resource Management Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement for three months of public review and comment. Two public forums have been scheduled in February to review new web-based tools and methods for helping the public review and comment on the draft documents.

The first forum will be held in Salem on Tuesday, February 06, 2007, at the BLM Salem Office located at 1717 Fabry Road Southeast. The second forum will be in Medford on Friday, February 9, 2007, at the local BLM Medford Office located at 3040 Biddle Road. The workshops will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run until about 4:30 p.m.

In addition the BLM has released their schedule for upcoming public meetings (see schedule below.)
