| I'd buy a 175cc 2 stroke MX bike. Sure as hell rather ride one of those over a 250cc 4-stroke. I'm sure every sound sensitive next-door neighbor would rather see 2-strokes make a comeback too. The problem is more and more people think that the less-than-one-percent of exhaust emissions that comes from our recreational offroad riding is causing such a huge problem that we need to replace our smaller displacement, better maintained (cause of the lower cost), 2-stroke engines with larger displacement, louder, four-strokes (that usually burn oil anyway because few owners keep them in perfect running condition cause of the huge maintenance costs). I own a 4-stroke quad (a warrior) and I love it, it runs forever with very little maintenance... it's not very fast, but I don't race it. Anything I buy with the intent to race will always be a 2-stroke though, because my bike is always an hour away from a new top-end, but it takes a good 3 hours (and twice the amount of money) to do the top-end on my friends 4-stroke enduro bikes. Plus I can ride all day without the neighbors calling the cops. Somewhere I went from quick comment to rant.... oh well. |
