current yz is at around 49 hp.

add a pipe +2-5hp
reed's: hp or two
add in the extra cc's (maybe 2 hp)
and porting. maybe hp or two.

450 puts out around 52-54 stock

looks like they are going to allow 250 2 strokes to race in the lites class with the 250 4's, now maybe people will shut up after they see the 2 stroke dominate a 4 stroke of the same cc

and the 450 class is open now, i doubt we see any CR500's in the mix with 450s though haha

"Finally, AMA Congress has eliminated handicapping for the Lites classes. For 2008, a Lites machine is a 250cc machine regardless of engine type. In addition, motocross classes will now allow bikes from 122cc-Open cc."

notice how they said handicapping, and maybe now we will get to watch our beloved 2 strokes on TV some
I'll be there with my 500!

a 249cc engine making 49hp = .196 hp per cc... A 285cc engine making .196 hp per cc is 56hp.... And its probably actually the torque gain that helps reel in the 450's So a big bore should definately be an advantage over a 250 if it were built correctly... 2 strokes rip...

i don't think at the RPM's your running on the track torque will make a huge difference. most the revs are between 5,500-9k.

i dunno how a 4 stroke can get ported.. but... last year i could stay with them. just have to out ride them. only place were i couldn't take the 4 strokes was on a long straight away. two fiddy just didn't have the oomph. but that was almost compleatly stock. we'll see how she goes, i still have the 250 motor so. i can always put that in and run the 250 class

yea the 250f guys are crying, its started a uproar on my local MX forum with the 250f lovers, they say how it is so unfair, i say it is a way to save money, twice the bike for half the maintainance cost, i can go pick up a 06 brand new CR for 3700 at my local dealership, i'd have to lay down 5k+ for a 06 CRF
