I got the same bike 1989 YZ250 but with a red seat for $1450 its a fast bike when they run. I still have a TTR230 but its not as fast as the YZ.

I have a yz426f, and my bros cr250 makes 1 more hp, according to a website that i checked out hte summer, it wasnt a dealer site tho.But the 426 is way more tourqier, i can wheelie rite threw every gear while almost stalling, but the 2 strokes are were its at for the quads if u ask me.

lol the CR makes raw HP where as the 4 stroke makes more usable HP compared to the 2 stroke. that has always been one of their downfalls. lack of traction

I like the 2 strokes lack of traction when riding in pits and just messing around which is the only kind of riding I do. I find it more fun to hit the gas and go out sideways and throw roosts at your buddies instead of hook up and still go slow. The reason you ride should be for fun and if you want fun you have to get a 2 stroke.

I found that out when I traded my old 1989 YZ250 because it wasnt running to get a TTR230. I made a really stupid mistake trading the YZ for the TTR because the TTR is just nothing compared to the YZ and I mean NOTHING even though the TTR is way newer. I ended up finding the exact bike I traded except my current one has a red seat and no mods and I had to pay 300 more bucks for it than the last one but im glad I got it cause now im smoking my buddies that have 250F's by a long shot and they have thousands of dollars into there bikes and they get eaten by a bike thats almost 20 years older and no mods plus the bike cost way less than a stock 250F.

yeap. but as for 2 stroke bikes losing in the straights to a four stroke, its all in the gearing at that point. you could easily have 2 more gears in a 250 pinger bike, and even then, it would probably want another shift.

i mean, my 250r fooler will roast the tires when shifting "nice" in the dirt in all the gears, and at the top of fifth, couls easily handle taller gearing and 2-3 more gears to slam. but my trike wobbles a bit, so 55-60 is plenty fast enough for me on it. im more of an acceleration junkie than a top speed junkie......therefore 2 STROKES RULE!
