neat idea ....but initially just by reading the article I see a couple problems with the new honda 2stroke cylinder ,seems the idea is a unique large powervalve asembly that traps the charge in so it is not released til its first effecintly burned off insde the cylinder and done so withan advanced ignition system that prevents detonation and erratic burn rates and misfires then its much less harmful once it exists the engine ,this in turn creats amazing torque properties ...theres some really in depth reasons why i think it wont do what thye say but for starters other than the obvious of turning the inside of your cylinder into oily/carboned garbage can.. the exhaust pipe setup is going to have to be designed to play the role of a lowend pipe and a topend pipe to mathc this powervalve assembly, the port timing change is going to be wild o n this thing the head /dome deisgn is going to be very revolutionary to d owhat they say and the friction and heat and ultimatly wear i would thin kwould be much higher ,heat robs horsepower over time ...so wha t do yo uwant to hurt the environemnt or your engine ?,its all gotta go somewhere .theres a few new designs ive see nthat are really sweet ,i hope this has al lbeen accounted for and if this engine does as they say it stands ot reason it wil l soon ti p the market

Proformance Cycle will become famous soon enough
Thumbs up

To all:

You guys all ROCK!

It was the 30 year anniversary of my father's passing on a few days back and I thought to myself he never batted an eye once if I asked for him to load up the truck and head out to just drop me off so I could ride with my friends. He saw it all from the first CR 250 to the Quadzilla 500! Used to ask how the hell big is that engine? How fast? He used to stand at the snowfence in the early days to watch me race. Ya that's what it's all about! What we do is special. The dedication we have about our machines is so intense. No matter what they do we still have the fire burning to fire up that machine just one more time to hear the sweet sound. If there was a better way to die let me know, cause I wanna go out with the motor pegged!

The Support is here no matter what happens out there. We all ride for our own reasons. Remember the first day someone showed you what all this was about! Dad, your big brother, your childhood friend! Just swinging your leg over the seat be it Cycle, ATV, or Quad we were instantly hooked. Didn't matter 2 or 4 stroke, this is why were hear now sharing the great thing we all have together.
We don't want to loose what we have. My goal is to relive it time and time again, even if it's just a short ride around the block.

So I say thanks dad.. I will continue and oh ya they have 700cc two strokes now!... LOL!

Ride on, Ride more, Just ride...

I can't say for sure about the U.S., but the legislation here in Canada says that there will be no more "Dirty engines" allowed (meaning anything that doesn't meet emission regulations, either 2 or 4 stroke), I believe it is after 2008 up here, but it could be 2010.

Mercury Marine and BRP/Evinrude/Johnson's direct injected two stroke marine outboards all exceed future emissions requirements, and are actually cleaner burning and more economical to run then their equivalent HP 4-strokes.

What would be nice is if the Bike/Quad manufacturers would put some more effort into getting their 2-strokes to meet emissions requirements. The marine engine producers have proven it can be done, so has Honda for that matter, they just need to get off their collective arses and get the job done.

i found this on my local MX forum

"I was talking to Bobby Barr yesterday of Barr's Competition and he said the AMA is loosing a lot of riders due to the added expense of the 4-strokes compared to 2-strokes. The AMA is apparently going to be making some changes.

He said the 450's will become an open class bike and the 250F class will remain we will see a rebirth of the 2-stroke 125 class. Somone at the AMA told him that Honda has a new fuel-injected 125 they are working on right now.

I have also read where the FIM will change it's rules for a new 350 class in 2 years. I guess Japan and KTM will be coming out with 350's.

I know the rules have changed for the amateur class this year allowing the 2-stroke 250 in the 250F class.

Don't get me wrong I like the power of the 450's but I hate working on the valves and the money involved. The next few years will be interesting to see what the AMA does to attact riders back to the sport. "

""""I know the rules have changed for the amateur class this year allowing the 2-stroke 250 in the 250F class. """"""

this is so true, you have no idea how many guys are selling there 250 4 strokes around where i live and looking for 2 strokes, looks like what we wanted is coming true

it cant be much longer till everyone realizes the money their wasting on these 450's and these engines dont seem to be that strong. 2 stroke less moving parts cheaper rebuild easier to work on. its so obvious which is better
