ATV's IN TROUBLE ... PLEASE READ

One Issue ...
ATV- and motorcycle-related noise is becoming a real hot-button issue across the nation.

As an example, a couple New Jersey lawmakers introduced a bill that would have seriously restricted racing at most racetracks.

Under the proposal, introduced by Assemblymen Michael Panter (D-Mercer-Monmouth)) and Robert Morgan (D-Mercer-Monmouth), no motor vehicle could be operated on a racetrack that is within a mile of residential housing before 11 a.m. or after 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and before 11 a.m. and after 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Violators would face fines of $2,500 for the first offense, $5,000 for the second offense, $10,000 for the third offense, and $25,000 for the fourth and subsequent offenses.

Essentially what this proposal would do is shut down racetracks. The legislation would make it virtually impossible for promoters or clubs to operate any successful racing events.

April 15, 2005 – From Connecticut to California, government jurisdictions are taking steps to try to ban ATV and dirtbike riding.

the Town of Jamaica Select Board had passed a law banning ATVs, dirtbikes and other vehicles from certain dirt roads

in Connecticut, state Sen. Bill Finch (D-Bridgeport) has introduced two bills to ban the operation and sale of ATVs and off-highway motorcycles statewide

The Connecticut Joint Transportation Committee—made up of both Senate and House members—actually took testimony on the bills, Senate Bills 330 and 565, which call for the ban.

an estimated 70,000 ATVs in use in Connecticut, the state collects more than $4 million a year in sales tax from the sale of ATVs.

WHY ARE THEY BITCHING.

There are 47,712 off-highway vehicles registered in Riverside County. There are more than 150,000 more registered OHVs in the neighboring counties of San Bernardino, Orange, and San Diego, a staff report says.

Under the Riverside County proposal, a landowner must have at least five acres to ride on his or her own property. Also, the riding area must be at least 250 feet from the nearest neighbor's home and 100 feet from the property line.

Plus, only two bikes or ATVs could be ridden at a time, riding hours are restricted, steps must be taken to control dust, and the maximum measurable sound level at the property line can't exceed 65 decibels

Im A Member ... and im writing a letter to my senator ... hopefully he could do something about it .... The only ones worried about it is the demicratic party.

so since my senator is a reb. hopefully this will get resolved.

Kind of off topic but I'm going to look at a house tonight that has 12.8 acres. It will be some sweet riding hopefully the land looks good. It says open fields and some woods. Hope it looks good I think it needs a new septic because the one they have is to small.

That is probably 3 of the gayest laws I've ever seen. Here in my town alot of money comes in from atving..and alot more will if they open up the rail road tracks to downtown kewaunee from teh park. Business will flourish and you can get a hotel room if you are spending a weekend!

Well I am putting an offer on the place so we will just have to wait and see. The garage has a whole upper part that has a sliding door on the back side that you can drive right into. I won't be taking any kind of car in there but that will be the new home of the ATV's and everything else. *Hoping really bad that I get this house* 12.8 acres you know how much riding that is well not much but a really nice track can be built on it.

i made 5 seperate bids before we finally agreed on my home.talked em down 9200$ on its list price.
