Why do most of you think that if it's a fuely it won't be a 2S. In my opinion that is the only way we will ever see one from them( the big 4 ), and I'll keep on praying for the day!!! Why does injection get such a bad rap? It will most likely be injected straight into the comb. chamber when the ports are closed, no(much less) raw fuel out the exhaust, more efficient burn. I'll stop now, getting a headache!

At least the Z can be upgraded enough to be very competitive with the big guys... nobody has turned the ex into something worthy of racing.

I'd say the Z was the real rabble rouser of the two....

In this Decade I think Honda was among the last to jump into the ring with something worthy of racing... too bad because they used to have it goin'-on!
Let's not forget Yamaha who started it all IMO. They were the bastards who set the 4 stroke ball rolling in the dirt bike ranks with the YZ400Fs.

I agree with you on the Honda 400EX not even being in the same ranks as the Suzuki Z400, though.

I think injection is the only way we'll ever see a 2 stroke again and that is a big if. And I'm also completely confused why some people think FI is a bad thing when it comes to quads. Maybe because people like to tinker on quads much more than streetbikes and cars and trucks? FI has made everything better IMO.

yea i dunnoo, but like i think it was 370 said in a different post, if something goes wrong with your FI like your ecu goes bad on the trail your gonna have to get a tow back..but if something goes wrong with your carb you can usally fix it. that might be one reason

How often do you have problems with your carb on the trail? I've never ever had a single problem with my carb on the trail nor have any of the people I ride with. With a carb you jet it, tune it, and clean it while at home. After that it's basically maintenance free. The only thing people really do with their carb when they get to their favorite riding area is adjust it or change jets. With FI you don't need to do either because it "tunes" itself.

well the problem that i have is sometimes my float leaks and gets gas inside it so that it sinks and then the valve stays open so it can leak gas out the overflow. but hopefully i can get a new one so i will never have that problem again, but i doubt thats a widespread problem, just one that i have which pisses me off

Sign me up for a new one. I'm not sayin out with the old but damn, new technology with a solid racing background. Sounds to me like another grand slam for honda and leave everyone else playin catch-up!!!!!

I hope that this does come to production but I haven't heard anything yet.

People are mostly worried that the electronics involved in the FI will fail due to the "abuse the quad will subject it to!"

I can tell you that there's a lot of FI vehicles out there that go through a lot more abuse than a race quad and they hold up more than fine.

I think FI on a two stroke is kinda weird though... I'll agree with its detractors on that front.

You're taking a lot of the pipe's influence on performance out of the mix... I don't like that idea much... and it also takes away part of the fun of 2-strokes... IDIOTS LIKE ME WORKING ON THEM!!!!

I can jet a carb, I can rebulid a top end, I can have my mechanic buddy crack the cases and make sure I don't fuck anything up inside!! But I can't tune an ecu to change the fuel map, and I KNOW that opening the top of a 4-stroke scares me silly.
