Angry Honda 2 stroke test

This guys explains how honda changed racing rules even though they developed a clean 2 stroke. Straight from the horses mouth I guess. You guys are probably already familiar with this.

Sorry here's the quote...
"It is probably not well known that Honda built and tested their own "clean" two-stroke and published the results in an SAE paper in 1998. (I donīt have the number at this moment, but if anyone wants to order a copy from SAE, I could dig it out.) This was an excellent test because it followed the LA4 driving cycle and compared the two-stroke with one of their four-strokes. With or without a catalyst, the four-stroke had 5-times the CO emissions and 7-times the NOx emissions of the two-stroke. Immediately after this, Honda started telling all their dealers all over the world that the two-stroke was doomed. "In five years", they said, "there will be no more two-strokes". Of course, they also got all the race-rules changed to make it look like their prediction was coming true."

Another quote...
"Honda said that they did in fact have 'clean' 2-stroke technology, but had concerns about putting a 2-stroke streetbike power-to-weight ratio in the hands of the general public. Basically, they could easily build a 300-350lb bike with say 130hp. Therefore they decided not to introduce the technology. But the HRC representative did not rule out using the technology in the future - which is probably more of a teaser than anything else. "
