i found this interesting rule change on my local MX forum

looks like they are going to allow 250 2 strokes to race in the lites class with the 250 4's, now maybe people will shut up after they see the 2 stroke dominate a 4 stroke of the same cc
and the 450 class is open now, i doubt we see any CR500's in the mix with 450s though haha
"Finally, AMA Congress has eliminated handicapping for the Lites classes. For 2008, a Lites machine is a 250cc machine regardless of engine type. In addition, motocross classes will now allow bikes from 122cc-Open cc."
notice how they said handicapping, and maybe now we will get to watch our beloved 2 strokes on TV some
