i found this on my local MX forum
"I was talking to Bobby Barr yesterday of Barr's Competition and he said the AMA is loosing a lot of riders due to the added expense of the 4-strokes compared to 2-strokes. The AMA is apparently going to be making some changes.
He said the 450's will become an open class bike and the 250F class will remain we will see a rebirth of the 2-stroke 125 class. Somone at the AMA told him that Honda has a new fuel-injected 125 they are working on right now.
I have also read where the FIM will change it's rules for a new 350 class in 2 years. I guess Japan and KTM will be coming out with 350's.
I know the rules have changed for the amateur class this year allowing the 2-stroke 250 in the 250F class.
Don't get me wrong I like the power of the 450's but I hate working on the valves and the money involved. The next few years will be interesting to see what the AMA does to attact riders back to the sport. "
""""I know the rules have changed for the amateur class this year allowing the 2-stroke 250 in the 250F class. """"""
