first the cylinder plated weighs less, the sleeve can slip, the power valve is set in the cylinder head exhaust opening, so the sleeve needs cut to fit, matching the sleeve correctly is hard havent seen on matched well, some power valve systems slide towards the piston to control port timing. like my 01 rm 250. plating is harder coating less wear, less resitance equals more speed , the sleeve you have to cut out alot of the material that makes the ports ,,factory has a ledge for the barrel to sit on in the casses the sleeve doesnt now weaker than the plated cylinder, heat transfer,
i hear people get along great, i just seen alot of mess.. cheaper in racing most of the time isnt better,, my 3 cents
