Itp Blows !!! i know most of you will think im nuts, and alot of you probably run their shit tires... anyway heres my little story.
i bought a full set (4) of itp GNCC's last year, only used them 10 times, if that, while checkin the tire pressure before a ride a few weeks ago, i notice 4 bulges in the inside sidewall of my left back tire, i poke them with my finger and they feel thinner than 2 ply tires, way thinner, and softer i can stick my thumb like inside he tire, in those spots, meanwhile they are 6 ply tires that cost $85 a tire .. so finally i decide to call ITP about it today, i know other people who have had the same problem and had no problem gettin new tires for the defective ones they bought, well i guess things have changed, theres no doubt in my mind they had to chnage their policy after probably having to give away tons of tires to unhappy customers, so the smart ass geek on the phone from customer service tells me i have 2 options, i can either dismount the 2 rear tires and ship them directly to itp (at my cost of course...) and they will "inspect them" and let me know if it was a manufacturing defect or not.. while in the meantime sitting with my thumb up my ass waiting.. or option 2, i can take them to an authorized dealership and again, pay out of my pocket, to have them dismounted and inspected by the dealership and then have the dealership call ITP and talk with them, discluding me, the person who payed for them, from the whole scenario ... i said thats ridiculous im not paying the yamaha dealer $75 an hour to dismount my tires with hand wrenches and inspect them , when you can clearly see the egg sized bulges and stick your finger in them and feel how soft the rubber is *(in spots) from the outside.... i told the guy i didnt live anywhere near a dealership and that i would take them down to my local STS in town, and have them dismount them on their machine and inspect them.. the guy said no no no, it must be a place that sells atv's!!! ? HUH? STS tire and auto doesnt know what they are talkin about? you want me to bring them to a 16 year old at a yamaha shop and have them give you his professional opinion? the guy on the phone was a total smart ass, talking to me like i was a 8 year old kid that didnt even nkow the front tire from the rear... so basically i have 2 options, spend $100+ taking them to yamaha and having them dismounted and inspected and then money on shipping back to ITP , If, IF, they are deemed to have manufacturing defects by the kids at yamaha dealership, if not im stuck with a bill and still have soft egg sized spots in my tires... or my other option is spend $30-40 and ship them directly to ITP , which im sure will find there is no manufacturing defect and say its somehow my fault, and then pay another $30-40 to have garbage tires shipped back to me... does this not make any sense to anyone else? ive already showed them to a friend of the family at the local STS and he laughed and said they are shot, and somethingn was have been wrong with the mold or mixture, i dont know what to do, but i sure as hell know i will NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy, or let a friend of mine buy an ITP product for as long as i ride quads.... i will go back to razr 2;s, and i will take off my gncc's, and cut them into very small peices so they fit in a small b ox, mail them to itp at my expense, with a nice little note enclosed... just for spite. the guy on the phone acted like a 16 year old highschool tough guy to me, cutting me off, not letting me talk, basically already wrote me off as a liar before i even gave him my story.. im beyond pissed , i should have listened to my friend and got razr2's again... oh well, lesson learned, ITP sells crap and does not back it up, then wants you to pay out of your pocket to PROVE to them its defective, at a location they deem acceptable, sound a little wrong to anyone else? i hope everyone takes this into consideration before wasting a pile of cash on ITP tires. buy maxxis!!! i have an old pair of razr2's outside , that i rode on for almost 3 years... no holes, no soft spots, no problems, ITP are garbage and they will sooon get a pile of scrap rubber in a box from me! i might even have my cat piss on the scaps first |
