You need to let a machine shop do some of that work:
The crank need to be pressed apart & then repressed together with the new bearring.
Then the crank bearrings need to be pressed into the case, along with one side of the crank.
However, you can do some things like dissasembly.... you can to make the machine shop bill lower!!
About the Case Saver:
"Blaster250" You are correct when you say that the aluminum mounts are the weakest link. However if you didnt have the case saver in there & the chain hops off: I would believe that the chain would go straight thru the stator cover. The problem is that the case savers will break any way you have it......Just a bad design.
wether the case saver is on or off, the chain will just bunch up untill it has enough pressure to break them...
