Weird Problem At The Track Today, HELP? so heres the deal, i got a can-am qualifier 250 dirtbike, its a 79 and its in great shape, i clean the shit out of the carb and put it all together and compression tested it at 130ish PSI at 4000ft, now i know it was running rich because it smokes like a mofo, BUT when i was riding it around my house it ran good and pulled hard, but i took it to the track and started it up on 3rd kick, warmed it up good and took it easy for a while (12 years since riddin) and then i started to get on it like i did at ome, well it just booged down and would want to die with any load on it, now the weird thing, i would let it sit and start it up and pop it in first and rev it up till 1/4 throttle and pop the clutch and the front comes up like a 9 year old on viagra, but about 10 seconds after it running good it would bog like crazy, but it wouldnt die, i could climb hills full throttle and it would rev at idle speed but with a louder sound, i changed the plug and i try the needle on a few different settings and messed with the air screw and even took the silencer off to see if it would help and none of it did, but it was working perfect a few days ago, i am kinda thinking it may be electrical but i still know its jetted to rich, first thing i gotta do is figure out where to find the weird main jets, they are normal hex head but the hex head is only like 2 coin sizes thick, the main is a 155 and think a 145 would be a good choice but then what should i check for electrical? flywheel pickup gap, should be at like .016 right?. and how could i check the plug wire coil? making sure it has a good connection. once again it was weird , full throttle up a 10 degree incline and it wouldnt really go up in rpms it would be as if it was a full throttle idle? no clue how to explain it, it was as if it was only firing every so often at W/O that it was only at idle speed.
