Default Just got a 1985 or 86? Tecate 3. some questions?

I think the VIN indicates it is a 1986 but it has the radiator located by the handlebars like the 84/85. I don't know how to decode the VIN.

I was also wondering, what kind of a hard time am I going to run into findng the needed parts for this thing? And does any engine parts from KX's work for the Tecate engines? Am I in a big uphill battle to find parts for this thing? How can I decipher what year it is?

Thanks for any help.

Still getting around to getting some pics. I'll post them as soon as I can get a chance. It's not in very good shape right now. Needs a lot of TLC.

Anybody know how I can break down the VIN?

The front brake system is missing. Like I said, it needs some work but is overall pretty good shape and runs good. The guy I got it from said he is trying to dig up the front brake caliper and and brake system. The rear is definately hydraulic. The shocks are air adjustable including the front forks. I think that was pretty normal for most of them though.

I'm pretty sure it is at least an 85. The last 2 numbers on the VIN say 86 though. That is the only reason I was wondering.
