It looks to be an uphill battle to find even simple parts for my Tecate.

It will probably be another 3 or 4 weeks before I get to tear into it but I am planning on taking everything apart and stripping and repainting everything and fixing stuff as I reassemble it. It will be a project that will certainly take me some time. I'm not made of money. But I want to do this the right way. I know the engine runs but the boot between the carb and engine is torn and when it's started it revs way up so I don't want to start it if necessary until I can get it addressed. It was stored for a long time and all the rubber seems dry rotted. So I definately have my work cut out for me.

Questions I would have is, how difficult should I expect it to be to get parts? Does anyone know of a repair manual for the 85 Tecate that is that I could find to help me along the way? While replacing engine parts, is there anything that is interchangeable form KX's that would be better or more accessible? I have a ton of questions but that's what i can think of for now.

Any advice/warnings/heads up you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated.
3wheelerworld.com ASAP

All of your questions have been answered there.

Here is a boot I sold on ebay for $27:
eBay Motors: 1983 1984 1985-86 KX250 TECATE KXT250 INTAKE BOOT CARB (item 260243438211 end time May-25-08 18:15:55 PDT)

These intake boots have gone for over $120 NOS while other nice ones go for cheap. If you want to lose the airbox virtually every KX500 KX2500 boot fits but angles to the left side.

83-84 KX250 has the same motor. KX250 top end is better and so is the stator/flywheel (but no lights).

Ebay for repair manual. Don't think 3ww has one posted for free.
