Hi, I also have an 87 LT500. I am having EvilTwin from here do my cylinder. You dont want to go to crazy with the zilla because the crank bearings and bosses are underbuilt/poorly designed along with the rest of the engine in general. Over time excessive load on these stress components will cause the engine to destroy itself, but only if you go to crazy with your engine work, or if the engine has not been rebuilt in 18 years. Eviltwin has owned an LT500 and over the years he has perfected his porting. I have read a really good review on his porting job on an LT250r, and I will be glad to let you know how my engine turns out when he is done; however at the rate I get things done, its not going to be soon. LT500 porting is expensive if you send it out to some large company like trinity, CT racing or duncan, all which after porting and head mods set you back over 400 dollars.
