That's up to you man, its not my bike to say you should do anything to it. I went both ways and got a lot better throttle response with the cables. Just make sure that if you stick with the screws, that their is no slack in the cables causing a late throttle response. If you do switch over to cables, you can plug it you want, I left the screws in the carbs. All I recommend is you might want to loc-tite the screws with the weak color just so they don't vibrate out. Hope switching the pilots gives you good results. One thing I recommend, unless you like to ride in puddles, is removing the airbox completely and going with dual air filters. This not only helps the engine breathe alot better, it makes maintenance on your fuel and intake a breeze. Hope I helped some!
