Default Difference between K&N and Foamy filters

whats the difference? my new carb came with a UNI, and I've ALWAYS used k&n, what are the advantages and disadvantages to using a foamy and using a k&n???

I have not had luck with K&N on my quads in New England because it is muddy and wet then it gets really dusty. So it does not do a good job keeping things out. I use the UNI foam because it really traps the dust and mud. I think the K&N are great when you are racing and such but just not practical in New England

so you tryin to say the k&n provides more airflow, but not as much protection as a foamy?

Yeah thats pretty much what I'm saying. They are both great filters just each one has it's strenghts. I am planning on buying a set of K&N's for my banshee so I can switch back and forth

I run outerwears just helps keep them clean and dry. It is much easier to maintain when you have outerwears

I have found that the K&N works extremely well with fab 1 filter oil instead of K&N oil. Wash it by presoaking in 409 then dunk in a tide bath all the oil will separate out of the filter. The fab 1 requires more often cleaning but mine has not left any residue in my intake track at all since I switched. Before with the filter and outerwear I still always had a minimal amount, now filter alone = none.
