wow, speek of the devil, i just got off the phone with my buddy, he was up in PA riding this weekend with some guys, well one of our friends got his friend into it, and he went out and bought a brand new 700r, my buddy said they were ridin down the trail and he hit a stick at about 10 mph, and it MANGLED the top aluminum a-arm, just ripped it apart, rippedthe top on wide open and destoryed the bottom one too, those are the same arms the 450 shares... thats the same thing that happend to my other friend on his 700r like a year ago, he was goin upa hill in 2nd gear, hit a pretty big stick and it just crumpled his a arms like they were soda cans

I have an 04 yfz 450 (the first year) and it's had the shit kicked out of it on a regular basis. My girlfriend even nosed it in the ground from 10 ft up, straight on the a-arms, and it's fine. I bent a lower arm on it one time, but it caught a stump. I know they have weak lower arms, but I have never heard of upper a-arm problems. There square tube, and welded pretty good from what I can see. There had to be previous damage to the arm from hitting something, or that jump was HUGE!!

well i guess u got lucky, i know 2 people personally now that have completely mangled/destroyed them just by sticks getting jammed up in them, a-arms are no place for aluminum , just like the plastic skid plates/bumpers they put on these new bikes, retarded shit

my frame on my race yz is all aluminum... same with my exhaust, swingarm, fork walls, radiators, triple tree's, clutch basket, water pump, sprockets, and suspension linkage. so a A-arm aint bad to have as aluminum. them new frmaes are pretty damn strong and really light weight.

i've seen some pretty gnarly jumps done by them yfz's and they come out without a problem. i dunno if it was a defect arm or not but damn.
