It broke a piston just like I told him it was going to if he didnt do a topend job. Broke the cylinder so its out of commision. Curt Whitman bought it last I heard from him. To bad I would like to put those cylinders on my roomates bike with some good pipes and really tune it in. Tuning is the key to everything, thats why I said some X3's run good and some dont. I just dont believe them to be anything extraordinary over a normall well ported drag motor thats setup well.

Thats what happens when you run loose ass pistons over and over, they were shot when he put it together.

Why not just call Jim and talk to him about some specs so you can try it.He is a hell of a guy and isnt usually to hush hush about his port specs like most builders.
Tuning the X-3 will take alot of dedication for sure, but it's all worth it in the end. There was a kid that had a set-up like mine, but he said he couldnt get it to run right.I had the chance to play with the cylinders he had and they ran almost as hard as mine.I didn't spend as much time tuning his set-up though thats why I say they run almost as hard as mine.I'm sure if I would have spent more time with them they would have run just as good.
One of the reasons his set-up didn't run right was because he had a set of domes that were flawed. The pistons were smashing into the head.If he would have said something about that and got the problem taken care of I'm sure he would have seen a huge difference. For some reason though I guess he didn't say anything about the pistons crashing into the domes and instead he claimed the cylinders were junk.

I dont think he knew until the motor was opened up. I was there when it ran and the motor made no noise or any indications of metal on metal problems. It certainly didnt run too impressive, not impressive enough to pull a preigniting honda . Still, receiving a motor that was suposed to be complete and assembled only to find that would leave a rather nasty taste in ones mouth. I will agree that its not a completely fair comparison he makes between his new motor and that motor. The new one is alky with a over ride, of course its going to run better whether Jims motor was setup correctly or not. Jeff does good work as well, I have seen far more of his bike run hard than Jims, thats just first hand observation. Like I said though, anyone can make a good setup run shitty though if they try, or dont try hard enough.

And yes 370 I have heard Jim is pretty liberal with his specs, there is more to it than just raw durations though which I know you understand.
