Here's an off topic tidbit for all you Ford haters: I work at a place that makes gas tanks for cars and trucks.......and you know who's always up our ass about maintaining quality?.........Toyota and Honda............And you know who you NEVER see in the plant?.....GM..........Guess they just don't give a shit.......Maybe that's why Toyota overtook them in sales..........that's pretty sad, considering all the Fleet vehicles GM makes......hell, that's the only thing keeping GM from bankruptcy......and no, we don't make anything for Ford, so I can't speculate on their quality.......but I do know what I see, and have seen for the past 10 years....half the plant is now Toyota and Honda......when I started there, It was all domestic.......hmm.......I've owned an F150 for the past 7 years, and apart from wear and tear items, I've had no problems out of it.......but I'm not driving the fucker through rivers, either........

i have had nothing but trouble i nthe past with fords when i was younger ,then i got a chevy s-10 with 4.3 vortec . drove it daily with absolutely no trouble from 94-2003 then i got a chevy c1500 fullsize drove it from 03- till three motnhs ago with no problems whatsoever and it had 286,000 miles on it too . non of my chevys have ever left me stranded or with an empty bank account .i just recently bought a trailblazer LS which IMO is a much better quality vehicle than the explorers from what i ve seen and tested . IMO chevys will do anything a toyota can do... just gotta maintain them and change that oil and theyll last forever . the 4.3 vortec has got to one of the most relaible and easy to maintain V6 engines ever to come off the production line

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing Toyota or Honda.....but when they're both made stateside, what's the diff?....4.3 Vortec's a good engine, got one in my work beater Blazer, but Ford and Dodge both have made bulletproof 6's......300 Inline, Slant 6 anyone?......Point is, if the Big 3 don't get their shit together, they will no longer exist.......And I agree, proper maintenance is key to any vehicle.....Chevy's have been known for years as the easiest to work on, but for all the Ford haters, I ask: Who's had the number 1 selling Full size for years and years?......I guess people keep buying junk.........

oh thats so true Ed ... it all boils down to labor ...you can thank the united auto workers union for this... they bitch and complain about wages when they have no real ability or skills i nthe real world and are making unreal money to do a quick spot weld on a f**kin door panel every 3 minutes . they see an easy problem and cant make a simple fix wit h a wrench or cant pick it up cause its not in their job description or contract ,IMO those slacky's can keep bitching about having to pay a measly amount of money to help offset their health care or help the profit sharing and let them cry about how they hadnt had a raise in 3 years when they get 30+ dollars an hour straight pay t o stand around wit h their thumbs up their ass smoking cigarettes .none of it wil l really matter when they are pushing shopping carts at walmart parking lots for 6.50$ an hour becuase no one wil l buy an american car anymore .people arent going to pay 400$ a month for a suv thats poorly and quickly thrown together and basic in design when theres a better more logical choice for the same price down the road ..american people arent as dumb as they act they look at quality and price, unions are absolutley killing this country and the bottoms falling out real quick . its a simple matter of economics... yo u cant pay an employee X amount of dollars if he cant or doesnt have the ability to produce X amount of dollars of labor sevice in return for the employer.

I agree with that 100%. I'm a mechanic and i see it more and more as time goes on....the japanese/korean companies keep moving forward with technology and the big 3 just seem to keep stamping out the same old....kinda reliable sometimes....junk.

well.....my 92 F-150 with the 300 straight 6 has 211,000 miles and still does big smoky burnouts....only paid 300 bucks for the truck.

as for my ford gripe.....I had to put a 1500 dollar transmission in it...haha. Still goes like all hell though

denny denny denny.. how absolutly wrong you are about unions... the fact is this... your gonna pay $40,000 for a 40,000 car no matter what the people putting them together get paid... it just means a bigger profit margin for the company.. unions in fact help union and non union workers alike in terms of pay and work load. anyway enough of that

as for the ford thing.. i'm by no means a ford guy. (infact my dad is a gm tech) but i do love my powerstroke ford..

i've owned probably 25 cars in that last 10 years..
almost all were gm's and i never had problems with them..
a few were fords and i never had a problem out of any of them either..
in fact my 90 ranger made it to just about 300,000 miles.. then the fuel pump went out and i said fuck it i just bought a powerstroke... see ya ranger...
i even owned a nissian once... great car.... was a 92 sentra 2 door with the 1.8 inline 4 and a 5 speed.... also great car.... so i say all these brands are good... except dodge pretty much sucks nuts.. can;t build a trans to save the damn world... do the maintenence and they all last forever... but i think case and point is this... don;t park in 3 1/2 foot of water that'll fuck up any engine... unless you just so happen to be driving a boat

wel l the way i see it and this is just a matter of opinion because i know it may see m offensive to some and im sure theres alot of union guys that work just as hard (if not harder) as i do on a daily basis , i think unions were a good thing at one time when the conglomerate big car companies i nthe 30'and 40's had poor wages and conditions with huge work forces that they eagerly too k advantage of but nowadays the market is totally different and they cant compete or function by paying people(UAW) to do repeatative simple tasks for very high wages and benefits ,doesnt really matter what it is ...a companies biggest overhead is always its labor and if they can cut costs they can and would sel l a vehicle for a reduced price . i think unions take away creativity and the drive and will to make a good product becuase they get paid the same regardless and almost impossible to fire for poor quality ,see ,theres no repercusion or incentive to excell at your job .it is almost like communism yo u get paid the same regardless of if your a good or bad employee if your ability is awesome or yo u just straggle by ,of coarse this does nt apply to all unions or jobs! im referring primarily to the UAW... it is only my opinion and i dont wont to take away credit for people who do work there asses off everyday and chris i know your one of them who do .
