Unhappy Learn when to call it a day...

Where do I begin, well first off, this is a story about my day yesterday and this just seemed like a damn good thread to put it in. So here we go.

Yesterday was my only day off in like two weeks so all week I was tryin to put together something like a good trail ride. First, to all the hunters out there, glad your doing your thing, but if you need absolute silence to hit Bambi in the kill zone, then don't hunt near my land, okay. I had a guy first thing yesterday pull up on his "realtree" camo fourwheeler and complain b/c he was hunting and we scared the deer off on our quads. We were on our land, ripping up a dirt track in a field behind my house. We had to be a good half mile from where he was hunting. Kiss my a$$ bud. I told him I hit one with my car at 30 with me laying on the horn, what was he doing wrong, LOL.

Then, the three of us took off riding. Now we own about four square miles of land with trails goin all through it. I also have permission to "ride respectively" on alot more. That meaning just stick to the trails that are there and not make any new ones, cool, its the same thing i tell my friends. Don't cut any new trails without me there. It doesn't take long to scar up land with everyone goin every which way. First, to get everyone warmed up by hitting the creek bed, good sand bars and its a ball to ride up the bank. best part, everytime it rains, it washes away what you did. Well, anytime there is mud and water my buddy on his fourby plows right in. He BURIED it, seems someone forgot we just had a good rain, haha. Fine and dandy except he was the only fourbyfour, you think a blaster or a 400ex is goin to pull that 800lbs thing out, nope. well he also has a 660r so he went and grabbed that. figured we pull his other out when more people showed.

Next we went to the dirt track. since I love to out race the guy on the 400ex around the track we were goin at it pretty hard. he has an HR Performance pipe and with the two of us and that raptor it was sounding good, i mean, for some 4 strokes, hehe. well, lets say the 660r could have done better if it weren't so damn heavy. well he shut down, and the 400ex didn't see him, and boom, the 400 hit his back right tire and over he went and there went the front plastic, handlebars and he blew a tire. Two wheelers down already. We have a friend come by with a Big Bear, back in business, pulled out the stuck atv, back to four of us.

Well the rest of the day went by pretty good till dark, seeing a pattern here. Now we are all pretty experienced riders, and with this being my land, it isn't the first time any of us have rode here. Then we get to the HILL. I type it like this because it is a dirt hill about 50-60ft tall with a 60 degree incline. there is very little room at the bottom to get speed because the bigass creek is right at the bottom. We created this path when the creek was empty, and now it is half full, so the path is cut off about ten feet after you get to the bottom. Picture this, its night, dark as hell, you start down the hill on your blaster and it dies. Out goes the lights, trees on both sides, and when I locked all the brakes up, I just slid. It was a ride, fun as hell, but scary. Well I made it most of the way down b4 I hit a small tree with the bumper and stopped, no big deal. I've rode this hill alot, hammer it in first, shift to second right at the bottom and up you go. Did that, made it almost all the way to the top and it cut out, back fired, and stopped. Once again, out goes the headlight, I lock them up, my friends try to rush me and grab the bumper, but no luck, and back down I go.

Call me what you want, but I was going to ride it out. Lean forward, hard on the front brake, easy on the rear. I guess I was too far to one side and the back left tire caught a tree root and it started to go sideways, oh yeah, I BAILED! I jumped to the left, cuz it was goin right. I rolled twice and hit a tree. It kept on rolling. Anyone ever heard the sound of metal and rubber and plastic smashing the ground and trees. Sounds just like a cash register, chuching, chuching, chuching, and there goes your money, LOL. Only this was followed by the sound of it hitting water. Two of my friends came down with flashlights and I had to jump in the water and fetch it out. Did I mention you could see your breath last night.

Diagnosis: bent handlebars, broken front fender and mount, lost headlight, lost left grip, cracked lightswitch, bent rear rim, ripped seat, torn riding pants, scuffed helmet(better than scuffed dome), and total loss of sensation in legs due to cold as ice water, LOL.

Good News: I bought a 2-stroke...after a couple kicks it fired right up. I also was so pissed that I slammed it into first and rode right up the damn hill full throttle. Nothing bad to say about the bike either, she took me there, and she brought me back. Little guy made it home just fine. About two beers and a pack of smokes later, we were discussing the day around a fire and I suddenly remembered I had just put a 14tooth sprocket on the front, and with it being so cold my jetting was probably off a bit, no wonder. In hindsight though, it may be expensive, but it was a hell of a fun day off.

But sure sounds like a good time. Good thing the Blaster didn't suffer too much, ooh & you as well
I've seen $100 tumbles from steep climbs a few times, not a pretty site! But yeah, could of been worse.

Based on the beginning of this story.... I'm waiting for the hunter to come back shooting at you guys or something lol...

thats great, I hate people who have to be assholes. i own the land, not the air, if they got problems with the sound, buy more land, and go hide in it so the rest of us don't have to hear the bitchin. lol.
