I think everyone has a bank story gone bad.

Heres one:
I have two checking accounts a two separate banks. My checks both have the same background, and look identical except for my current address. The account with my old address checks is an old account I dont deposit money into. I was paying my credit card bill of $1220, and I paid with the "old check". After it bounced, my bank notified me, I realized what happened, I explained to the credit card company AND the bank what had happened, and another check was on the way. Even though I explained it, they kept running the check through.

In the end, $40 in bank overdraft fees, and $39 for a bounced check fee from the credit card company. All because I grabbed the wrong check.

And that round off into savings thing is a cool idea, maby I might switch.

I knew I was low on money, so before I would go spend money I would check the atm for my account balance. If I had money, I would get what I needed. So I checked it, it was $26 left on my card. I spent 13. Little did I know, I had bought gas the day before, putting it under ($60) and the bank did not have the updated balance for me. I was all fine until I spent the $13. I was charged $32 overdraw.

I then needed some more items so i went to the atm again, it still said the + amount so I went ahead and figured the $13 didnt go through yet so I kept it under $13 again.

I got charged another $32.

I called the bank and spoke to 3 different people. I did get refunded for one, but they refuse to refund the other one. They said I should be the one keeping records and my balance. She told me I should be my own banker and not to rely on the online banking or atms....

I still do not understand why it would let me spend money that I did not have. They will not refund me for that excuse either.

What do you think? Any ideas I should try to get the refund?
I would have told you the same thing. Use a check register bro. There
is a lag on the ATM and Online banking. The only way to have a 100%
accurate balance is to keep a written record. Dont get me wrong, Im
not defending the bankers for sounding harsh. But trust me we have
1000 people a day yelling at us about overdrafts when its the users
fault. The atm and online takes 24-48 hrs for the purchase to show up.
Its all about educating the customer. If its the first time, I educate the
customer then reverse the fees with a smile I dont reem my customers
I help them. 2nd times a free for all...I charge em hehe.

Oh and heres my 2cents dont bank at B of A. I worked there for over
4years and left. I didnt like the way they treated their customers. Go
to a small local bank. They actially care about you as a person and
not as a number. Im a manager/officer at a local bank and would never go
back to working at a huge corporate bank. Believe me when I say,
large banks are a mess

ok...banker hat off...mod hat on

Showtime,

My bank is a small town bank surrounded by plenty of huge banks like B of A, US, Wells Fargo, and TCF. I loved the bank up until recently, when they got bought out by Klein. Now any problems you have go straight to Klein's 1-800 number.

Showtime...
Seeing as how 99% of the time, I don't go in a branch....or never call, would you say the same to me about BOA? I do EVERYTHING online. I haven't bought a stamp in I don't know how long. Free online bill pay is the shiznit... Setup the payee, send money. Done. Money comes out of your account, no need to "wait for that check to clear"...

The gas thing with debit cards gets me. They authorize a dollar...and sometimes I put 20.00 in, sometimes I put 100.00 in....
