Default Bank Overdraw fees....

I am just kind of mad at my bank right now. I got charged $64 for overdrawing twice($32 a pop). I knew I was low on money, so before I would go spend money I would check the atm for my account balance. If I had money, I would get what I needed. So I checked it, it was $26 left on my card. I spent 13. Little did I know, I had bought gas the day before, putting it under ($60) and the bank did not have the updated balance for me. I was all fine until I spent the $13. I was charged $32 overdraw.

I then needed some more items so i went to the atm again, it still said the + amount so I went ahead and figured the $13 didnt go through yet so I kept it under $13 again.

I got charged another $32.

I called the bank and spoke to 3 different people. I did get refunded for one, but they refuse to refund the other one. They said I should be the one keeping records and my balance. She told me I should be my own banker and not to rely on the online banking or atms....

I still do not understand why it would let me spend money that I did not have. They will not refund me for that excuse either.

What do you think? Any ideas I should try to get the refund?

Sorry to say bro but they are right. You need to keep track of what you have for money. If you made a deposit before they cleared you would be ok.Once they clear you owe that overdraft fee plus remaining balance.I would be happy to take the one credit and eat the other.I know it sucks but they need to make money to.I have done this in the past and quickly learned a valuable lesson.Good luck.

They are right but they're no to speak to you in that manner, I'd of cursed the shit out of someone for speaking to me like that.
It would be worth those extra bux they took. And in a way they're the bank & hold your money so they have a responsibility too.
Call again & try to speak with a manager or supervisor. It's really not that hard, all they have to do is say ok & push that button.
My bank did that, or I did that a few times where I forgot to transfer funds & they charge $40 for each overdraft.
At first they wouldn't do it. I go on to tell them why they bug over a few bux when they have accounts holding 100000000's k's
& to please refund & transfer funds. It worked!!!!!!
When I want lower interest on my credit cards, I ask how do I cancel? They immediately drop that rate!!!

my accountant was fine. $4.81 then i forgot about the monthy $5 fee and it put me over my 19 cents it was that way for 3 days. then i tryed to trans $1 from savings that has $5 in it and it would not let me and then they charged me $30 overdraft. i was mad. but i talked to them nice and they refunded me the money. im still going to close the accountantfor other reasons, went to get a secured loan for $13000 using my dads $12000 cd and they wanted the cd and the car title. and like 8% apr. and they would not let me and my wife sign just mom and dad. so we went to mom and dads bank {2 hrs away} and got the loan for under 5% if they were closer id use them more, kinda hard to put a check in the bank. morel of the story there are other banks that want your business and will treat u good

Mine likes to do this thing where it goes negative so I transfer money and then after I transfer the money they try to charge overdraft fees. I'm with climb on this one it is your responsibility but at the same time you are trusting them with your money and they have a responsibility to you as well. I would have went the f*** off on them too its amazing what you can get accomplished with these people if you flip out on them especially in person I made this chick at cingular damn near cry one day because they messed up my account and charged an extra $400 or so to our bill I felt bad afterwords because it wasnt her fault of course but $400 is alot of $$$ had it been $5 or something I really wouldn't care but it wasn't

Banks to that too.... At least I know Huntington does. And they don't charge you a dime.
I like credit unions, but you're stuck using their ATM or you get hit with fees...fees to take your own damn money out.

When i switch, I'm going to Bank of America... They offer that round up change to savings. For those of you that don't know....if you purchase something on your debit card...say for 2.19 total, 81 cents would get deposited to your savings account automatically.

I never balance a check book, I do 99% of my banking via the web and ATMs.
The only time I go inside is if I have a large check or cash to deposit....otherwise, hold your receipts.

The bank was right, but they shouldn't have treated you in that manner.

I've deposited money via ATMs before 4PM and that person that entered into the system missed the deposit, got smacked with overdraft fees. I'd call the bank and say here's my receipt, the branch number and time....and they'd refund my fees within a few minutes. I've had to do that twice over the past 5 years or so....they actually treat me very nice.
