Default Bad Day For My Shee

i put the rear end of my shee back together today and took her for a spin.. let her warm up and then gave her hell, and oh buddy i was like kid in a candy store since i haven't rode it in about 3 months. but then i heard some rattling noises, kept checking it and only rode it about 15 feet before i came to the conclusion that i broke a piston ring. after tearing into the top end the left piston (just the top) was all fucked up and so was the dome. funny thing is once i took the cly's off the rings were in place and not damaged at all. so i started to turn the crank to see what was in the lower end.. there was nothing but the was a grinding noise. i thought FUCK trans.. took flywheel cover off and 2 screws fell out!!!!!!!!!! 2 of them damn screws that were loctited in came out and dinged/scratched up the flywheel. i hope it ain't to bad. this is some bullshit!!!!!!!

Ok, Im confused. Your piston is scar'd up so there was obviously something in your cylinders and above the pistons. But you said bolts are loose in the flywheel area? What screws are loose? Right now the only relevance I can see is if your stator mounting plate bolts came loose and it went way out of time and started detonating which caused the porcelin to come off the plug and tear shit up. Maybe Im just not following you either but what came loose in your stator area that caused pitting damage to your left piston?

2 of the 3 screws that hold the stator to the timing plate came out, and fucked up the flywheel pretty good, the gashes on the top of the left piston and dome are still something i'm trying to figure out, there was nothing in the crank, pipes, or carbs. the skirt was intacted and so were the rings.....

Thats what I was wondering, thats damage only caused by shit floating around obviously. My piston looked exactly like that after detonation stripped the porcelin off the plug. Im just trying to find something to relate the missing stator plate screws to the damage, maybe there isnt a relation and you have two separate problems though. Make sure you look at the plug, is it still entirely intact?

I think I was lucky on my first banshee rebuild it fell together and went great, but I could Imagin how much that must suck. I couldnt feel completely comfortable unless I did a full engine rebuild for that, to know for sure what was going on. Its not that hard, and the hardest part of takeing the motor out is already done.
