omg yea, actually I have found that a raptor 700 and a 450 in a race are about one in the same, But I think the 450 has a little more top end. I personaly know because I own a mildly built raptor 660. I could beat it fairly easily when my motor was just a trail port with shaved head and good pipe and sprocket changes... etc.

Thats a loaded question, a showroom 700 raptor is not going to touch it if you can ride. Now regardless of what some people on here think the new 700 can be made to flat ass move. I have seen a few at the dunes that are bad MoFo's but the chances of a high schooler having one thats built are slim to none. The common raptor or 450 is not going to be a problem.

You have to understand what I'm talking about when I say built. Not your average, high comp piston, pipe, programmer bike. I'm talking guys with professionally built motors, if they truly have one built to this level a 330 isn't going to do the job either. I would just get the 310 if your crank is ok and you don't have a reason to split it and have a good time.

The price is so close, that a 330 bolt on is a good choice! Now,does he need a 330 to beat a raptor or a 450-no,a 310 will also do the job!!Like fiveonick said, make sure your bottom end is ready for a ported big bore cyl.,and go get em!!
