Default jug honing??

hi, ok i am doing a rebuild on my motor this will be the 2nd time doing it, and i was wondering if i should get the cylinder//jug honed wiesco says to do it every time u do it but i didn't the last 2 times i did it ,and i would like to make my motor last as long as possible .. its at the max size u can bore a cylinder out .090over ?? .. any 1 no what a shop would charge me to honing would cost me ??..

just go to your local auto parts store and buy a hone ... slap it in your drill and hit it up.

sweet thanks .. umm will any size honing tool work ? and what make should i get cause i been looking and there is some diff honing tools u have a link to what i would buy and what it would cost me to buy the tool .. im trying to get away heap cause i still have a goos amount of parts to buy lol ..

I would recommend some FINE! stones, 400 grit is what I use.

okk thanks guys .. ok ill see ifi can find some cause am prolly going to pick up the honing tool today .. what would happen if i were just to do the cylinder with the stones it comes with ??.. and how long do u run it in your cylinder i seen some vids like 10seconds up and down the cylinder, ? u do it with oil or with out ?...

I'm going to say you need the oil since that's the way it's always done.
Do these honing tools also measure bore? Or will you mic it as you go along? Just curious how you'll keep it within spec...

mmm idk i didn't think i need to do that, cause i am only scuffing up the cylinder so the rings will seal properly ..

i just wanna state for the record that its not just as simple
as getting at tool for a dremmel and grinding away...

as stated above...the bore needs to be measured and
needs to be cut to spec. if its not then your gonna
have a ton of issues. trust me take it to a shop to be
properly bored.

i have my cylinder honed every time i do a rebuild. listen to wiesco....

My local shops even ask for the piston in order to bore/hone, they won't work with out it..
I would like to think you can get away with doing it on your own, thought bout it many times myself but never dared!
