Default Spark plug question

Yo guys..just ran into another little stumper here.

I went to my local yamaha pro shop for a new plug this morning, I told them it was a 99 blaster..he gave me a NKG B8ES, Well when i pullled the old plug for the swap..its a NKG BR9ES. Anyone know whats up with this? and what should i use?

Also, what should i gap the plug at once i figure this out.

THANKS!

"R" or resister plugs use a heavier ceramic resistor to suppress ignition noise generated while sparking. Usually used in vehicles w/ on-board computers to reduse electromagnetic interference w/ electronics. The #s 8 or 9 refers to the heat range or its capability of removing heat from the combustion chamber. You look for a heat range high enough to prevent fouling but yet cool enough to prevent pre- ignition. You should always gap a new plug to mfrs. specs but since your on a Blaster thread that sucker in and run it!

Yeah just run the BR8ES it will do fine. The R on there also is a resistor so it doesn't interfere with cell phones while the quad is running. But who talks on their cells while their quad is running....kinda stupid cause you can't really hear anything. I've ran both 8's and 9's in my quad and can't notice a difference. Right now I'm running BR8EX or IX something like that, its the irridium plug so it takes longer for it to foul. And its true...I rode for about 2 hours before it fouled on me (I knew the jetting wasn't right....but I didn't care it was too rich so I wans't hurting anything)

i'm pretty sure you don't have to run the R plugs..... thread it in and ride it.. every balster i;ve ever hand my hands on had a 8 plug.... except 369's had a 7 plug in it??? oh well it'll have an 8 in it when it goes back together
