Default Newb ? about some parts

Hey everyone,
I have gone to the local shop (Pro Cycle Performance) and here's the deal. They are saying that this is a good deal, and I agree, but I just wanted to make sure a couple other people did. Anyways, for $125 (around there, + or -) They're gonna order me: Boysen Power reeds, Outerwears airbox lid kit, Jet kit, UNI filter, and a reed spacer (dunno how big it ism probably boysen 1/2"?) Good deal or not? I already have a FMF PowerCore II silencer. They say that I should have jetted that at the start, but I decided to stay with stock jetting, not a good idea I know because I can tell the top end is flattened out to say the least, but heck it still works and I do see some gains. But they say when I get these parts, I'll have to go up anywhere from 4-6 main jet sizes. Talk about a cheap but awesome upgrade. Thank you for any of the help. And if anyone has any ideas as to where to go from here is definately appreciated. But I mainly just want to know whether or not I'm getting jipped. Thanks again,
BlastAway

Boysen stock replacement reeds can be bought on Ebay for about $15
Outerwears are like $20 around here and I've seen them on Ebay for about that.
Reed spacers go for $20 or less on Ebay... UniFilters range from $15 to $35. There is absolutely no need for a jet kit... with those mods you might need to go up two or three sizes tops. So... let me back up what holtzer said... you're better off getting everything on your own through Rocky Mountain or Ebay... or East Coast ATV... your local guy's getting a pretty good markup.

As for your jetting now... it's not just performance you should be worrying about... the problem is you're probably running lean and burning up your top end (that means ENGINE TOP END... not top end speed... which means you're going to need a rebuild if you're not careful)

ooooh, i forgot to post on your jetting issue...stop riding it and get it jetted...or do it yourself, its easy. with your mods as it sits right this second, you should be running probably a 260-270 main jet, i'm surprised you havent siezed your engine yet, if you dont jet, you will, i bet if you pull your plug, it has a lot of silver buildup on it. thats your piston..melted and flaked onto your plug.

Rocky Mountain ATV over the locals? Interesting yet probably worth it...
I'd only have to go up one jet size? Wouldn't I be way under-fueled? That seems like a much smaller jet than needed, the dang thing already has a silencer, and I need to go up 1 for that alone, so with all this extra air coming into the motor I would have to go up more than 1 wouldn't I? I'm not trying to argue too much, but it does seem a little odd. All those parts you listed are at Rocky Mountain ATV?
One more question (sorry). I've heard nothing but good reports of people buying a 14-tooth front sprocket, because any lightly modified blaster with its short gear ratios could use a little larger front sprocket, should I grab one of these while I'm at it? Thanks for the help.

I'm going to pull the plug tomorrow. The local shop said that I would be alright with the stock jet, but I didn't think so. I haven't really rode my blaster much for the past 3 months, because of weather and because it started to backfire and cut out, I realized I wasn't getting enough fuel in there, so I just parked her in the barn and decided to wait til I got more parts to rejet. Good thing I did that lol, or that thing might be a molten lump of steel right about now. I think I'm gonna get all of it from Rocky Mountain, sounds like the best way. You guys have been a real help, thanks alot.

as for jetting....you probably have a 230 in it now...thats stock main, youll need probably a 260--270 main, move the needle clip down 1 notch on the needle. a 14 tooth is deffinitely a great idea, youll love it, also if your wanting to go with another inexpensive but good mod, get a 4 degree timing advance key. youll have to buy a flywheel puller to install it but it gives you better bottom end. youll be better off with rmatv or ebay, they can buy larger quantities and pass the savings on to you. good luck and your on your way to a great runnin blaster...keep up the mods and youll be quicker than the 400's in no time...lol.
when your ready to get into that top end, look into getting some port work, youll be amazed the difference porting will do on a blaster.

More help, wow this place is great! Satisfied person right here!

So I guess heres what I'm gonna do:
UNI Filter
Outerwears Airbox Lid Kit
Boysen Power Reeds
Boysen Reed Spacer
14-tooth Renthal? Front Sprocket
260-270 Main Jet
Vito's? Degree Key

I'm thinkin this is gonna run me around $150-$175, so that might take a couple'a weeks at the most to get the money, I'll alert all of you how this project goes.
I never thought my little Blaster could be able to run with the Polaris 500 Scrambler down the road (The big pig is slow I know, but it does have a 300cc advantage, and it will dessimate me in the straights) and my cousin's CRF150, but I guess by spring I'm gonna make sure they know Boss starts with a B hehe
Thanks again,
BlastAway

Just purchased a 14-tooth sprocket off ebay for about $17, Boyesen Superstock Reeds for about $18, a WSM Performance Reed Spacer for $21, and a UNI Filter for $19. Didn't know this was gonna happen so fast lol, I guess I'm officially obsessed...
Looks like all I need for now is the Outerwears Kit and the Degree Key, and I'll have a pretty quick little Blaster, at least compared to what I have to race against, all you people with the thousands of dollars in their machines will tell me I'm slower than molasses in the winter, but oh well hehe. I'm gonna get the jet kit from the local shop, except I'm tellin them what I want from now on. Thanks for all the help, I think I'm heading in the right direction. I just called my bro and he was all yellin at me because I spent close to $85 on these parts,I take it he thought I got jipped. I think these prices were pretty good, considering the fact that I'm including shipping in the total, so I guess he can just go ahead and whine, I'm not really worried about the whole $$$ issue, can't wait til these parts come. Thanks for all the help, and again I'll keep everyone posted.
Question- Will I really be able to run with that Scrambler without being embarrased with the four parts I have here and a Jet Kit? lol fyi nice bike Maine, that thing gives me goosebumps...
