frothy gear oil

Any of you other cold weather riders ever notice you gear oil turning frothy looking, in your sight glass?...im thinking its a little moisture that builds from a good ride in the extream cold then cooling down after the ride...and gets mixed in on the next start up....atleast im hoping thats what it is.


Any ideas..or does that sound possible?

well this is the second time ive noticed it...1st time i was using yamaha stuff, now im using this 80W honda gear oil.

to tell you the truth, i've never noticed..meaning i've never looked, its a good possibility its normal. do you mean its foamy...or milky?
if its foamy..dont worry about it, if its milky, youll have to change your oil more often. theres no water source to get in there...besides condensation like you stated.

its more foamy..like many, many tiny air bubbles mixed in it....that inturn makes it look cloudy, till it warms up or settlels

that would be coolent. oil and water dont mix but when its in a tranny it turns into baby shit.

I had a yz250 do that and it was coolant leaking into the crankcase.

ok on a blaster where is the water source? the thing is AIR COOLED so no water jacket. so i think that u are starting to over analize that machine. so just chill out i live in central wi and right now it is real cold and i ride hard and i have no problems with the gear oil getting weird. course i use mobile1 that is good down to 20 below 0
