If you're gonna be racing you'll need a tether kill switch and nerf bars.

I'd save that money you're gonna spend on plastic and put it towards a bigger carb, some port work, etc...

My usual advice is to concentrate on handling characteristics first. TIRES TIRES TIRES TIRES! Get some good 20" Razrs or Shredders for the rear... the stock fronts are okay for now. Then, buy some good +2+1 A-arms, +2 swinger, +4 or +6 axle. And you should upgrade shocks at the same time. Cheap and very effective route would be Works dual rate steelers with or without rezzies. Best choice is Fox Float Shox or Elka dual rates with rezzies. Once you've made the machine capable of handling its stock power... then moving on to engine mods is a good plan.

However... NOBODY ever takes that advice because our culture is one of instant gratification... everybody wants to go fast NOW. In my opinion... handling makes you faster than horsepower.

thats true, dirtwheels did a works shocks evaluation on a blaster and actually cut 4 seconds off the lap times....with JUST shocks, no engine mods.
my suggestions....in no particular order
tires...18" razrs, klaws (rear) fronts will work for now.
14/38 gearing
carb
aluminum wheels..(unsprung weight)
banshee axle...its like 3.5 inches wider and cheap off of ebay
flip front wheels, unless you can afford +2/3..+1 a arms. youll have to buy flush mount valve stems for the new hydro brakes
remove the lid completely on the airbox
nerfs, youll need them
tether, also a must have
number plates..another must have
also, some good comfy handlebars would help with fatigue.

I race a blaster. and dont put anything into the motor untill you get your suspension set up properly with extended aarms swingarm and axle with decent shocks after that look into motor work also skip the plastics they will be all messed up right away. and you have better things to spend a few hundred bucks on.
