Smile leaking overflow tube

Ok guys I have the Suzuki 250R and my overflow tube will continue to leak until i use the gas shutoff at the petcock. I have assumed that is is the float in the carb, but what do i know???? And how do i fix this?? Is it simple enough for me to do, or is it a shop repair??

Anyways your help and experience is apprieciated.

Most likely to be your float.. dirty
Take the carb appart, spray it down with carb cleaner..

I once had the same prob, went away after a good clean.

also when i let my bike run dry to empty the gas in the lines and carb, it revs realllly high and it wont shut off. I have turned the key and shut the run switch off and it revs super high like it wants to explode. what causes this???? could it also be the float. with the 4-strokes they just die.

sounds like your carbs for sure...

buy a carb rebuild kit and that will give you new springs, gaskets, and seals... that should fix your problem...

if your bike is continuing to run after the key is off that is probably more than the carbs.... sometimes if a bike runs really hot it will do that, because it's so hot it doesn't need the spark to ignite the fuel.... so that in combination with the fuel over load problem could be the cause.

The bike is leaning out every time you shut off the gas. Mine did that also. While you have it apart you might as well get a rebuild kit for it. It will help tuning alot also. Its very easy to rebuild a carb. Just remember how things go back together. i took pictures and printed out a blow up diagram of my carb so I could not fuck it up. Good luck to ya. What color is the spark plug? Brown, Black, white, or something in between. I just want to know if you are running lean. Clean the carb frist. Just use carb cleaner and see how it runs. If you shut it off and it still revs high just shut it downn and order a rebuild kit.
