Default honda crm250 carb trouble

I just bought this bike and when i got it it ran fine but fuel alway trickled out of the bowl overflow, so when i got it home i adjusted the float level down a little but now it floods the engine.

i managed to adjust it so it would run without fuel coming out of the overflow, it was hard to start cos it was flooding but it eventually did and now when i start it it revs hard

anyone know what would cause this? ? ?

Any ideas anyone???

it doesnt take much to bend the little tab to adjust it ,id guess yo u had it out of whack origanly then yo u went to the extreme the other direction and are chokeing it out now... or maybe your float was leaking scrap that needed replaced and now you threw the tab out of adjustment.

na i measured it and set it to honda specs, it was only half a millimetre out. i had to adjust so it leaked out of the overflow just so i could ride it to the shop

there could be a piece of dirt keeping the needle from seating all the way.
