Question idle screw

I have a question about the idle screw why would the need to increased or decresaed the idle when tuning your carberator.

are you talking about the throtle stop screw or the air mixture screw. The throtle stop screw just keeps the slide valve from closing all the way so its kind of like holding the throtle partialy open. the air mixture scew alows more air in through the slow jet. you usualy want to start at about a turn and a half out on the air mixture screw

yeah I was talking about the throtle stop screw I just wanted to know if it made your engine run better or worse but it just increases the rpms, I know about ajusting the air mixture screw but thanks for your help dchd1130.
