Default New Job- Chrysler Tech

I finally got myself a new job, I'm a tech at my local chrysler dealership now.....Job security I suppose you could call it....haha, they definitely have me busy doing the bitch work, power sunroof issues and stupid noises you can never duplicate, gauge clusters stopping working for half a second every 3 months....EVAP leaks, recall stuff...convertible top rubbing issues....you know, all the bullshit that more experienced techs dont want to piss with cause theres no money in it....works for me. I ike it so far, I work the night shift so its laid-back as hell

Hey,
Congrats on the new job!
I've been a tech. for , wow! over 20 yrs. now !!
I Started in a G.M. dealer, also doing the petty, annoying stuff that the "A" techs didn't seem to want to do.
There will be times that you will get fustrated but, soak all the info up like a sponge!
Each manufacturer has their "Trademark" problems for sure.
I work for a very busy independent shop now and that makes it a lot more difficult at times because you are working on all of the makes and models of cars.
I started waaaaay back then at the bottom as a basic backyard mechanic to a "A" tech.
You can do it too!
Just keep soaking up all of the info, tips, and shortcuts those "A" techs will throw at you and before you know it, those annoying little stupid problems will either be passed onto someone else or become a much simpler thing to do because of the little tricks, short-cuts that you'll pick up!
Trust me, before you know it, you'll be an "A" tech! It happened to me!
GOOD LUCK ! and Congrats. on the new job!

Congrats. I was a tech at a FomoCo, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Eagle, Toyota dealership in Nev. right out of High School. Loved the job and learned a ton. Problem was I enjoyed working on my own stuff too much and when you do it for a living, I never wanted to fix my crap. Mechanics usually have the worst running vehicles LOL.

Mechanics don't have the worse running vehicle, usually the worse looking one. Also as a Chrysler tech you should see a shit load of tranny problems.

Seriously it was a joke. The point was that if you do something all day, everyday, you don't want to do it when you get home. Imagine being a Gynocologists wife LOL.

thanks for the advice guys. I've only been there 2 weeks now and have already learned a ton of stuff. Sometimes it gets a little nerve-racking....like a few days ago when I had to pull the headliner out of a 08 Jeep Compass that only had 1500 miles on it, the sunroof quit working. Not a hard job, but theres so many plastic parts that could possibly break if you take them off in the wrong order, losing clips and causing rattles, little stuff like that, not to mention getting something dirty...haha
