Default Race gas question?

My shee is now done, ported, T5 pipes, rejet, timing +4, v-force3 reeds, head milled .030, cnc impeller. My question is what would happen if I ran "race gas" in it? Would it be ok? Would I get just a little more "power" to it? You guys that have done this please let me know.

Thanks
quadmaina

Race gas is higher octane meaning you can run higher compression without any knock. It also runs cooler, so if your head was milled and compression was increased it is usually a good idea to run partial race gas (mix with pump gas). But if your head was not designed for it than you are wasting money on expensive fuel.

race gas doesnt generlaly do what most people thin kit does ,it burns slower to reduce detonation /preigntion and can reduce power but usually it will give 5-7% over pump gas not so muc becuase of the given octane rating but becuase of the additives like oxygen and lead both of which a 2 stroke love and respond well too ,also theres better and worse varieties of race gas some arent much better thna pump others are very high qaulity regualted blends ,this will sound confusing but theres no such thing as an octane rating ,.....octane was an additive used 80 years ago when fue l sucked and therfore used as the standard rating system to illistarte the anti knock properties of the said fuel ,theres zero octane i n your fuel ,it should actually be called the anti knock rating
the idea is too bump up the igntion timing and static compression for the added power... the race fuel simply allows you to accomplish that safely without detonating and exploding at the wrong time

This has been covered many times, I think the rule of thumb is more than 150lbs you need better than 93 octane.
I have 19cc domes and 4 degree advance timing and at 300 above sea level its about 165lbs. So I run 50/50 110 sunoco and 93, works out to about 101.5 octane.
Do yourself a favor, do a compression check holding the throttle wide open, and see where your at. It's also a good way to keep a eye on potential problems before it cost you big!

This is a very confusing subject to many, Octane is a chain Isomer that burns more slowly. Octane & heptane are both produced from cude oil. Heptane is off the same chain of isomers but it burns more explosivly, you may think that is a good thing, but it causes engine knock & preignition. Most of the time, The rule of fuel is that the higher octane the lower heptane, hence when in a high compression engine, it has a less chance of causing harm. This information is just scratching the surface...
