Exclamation Blaster jumping put of gear help?

Hello everyone, my first post here and my first 2 stroke quad. I picked up a 98 blaster for 400.00 bucks, it looks pretty ratty, but i striped everything down and getting everything powder coated. The major prob with the quad, it is really had to get it into gear, then when in gear it likes to jump out of gear. I did not even bother to try and shift it out of 1st as to it was so hard to get it to even stay in gear. I ripped the motor apart and the shift rods, and forks look fine, no major wear. I looked at the yamaha shop manual and checked the friction plate wear limit. The book says the wear limit is 0.11, mine are at 0.118 I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? If so I would greatly appreciate any imput. By the way the gears inside show no obvious signs of abnormal wear.
