Oh! Man that is rough. Reminds me of the day my little brother finally learned his lesson. We're riding an old railbed and come across a blown down tree we have to go around. All good, no problem. Coming back through, it's dark and we're doing about 60 (XR600's). I tried to yell to him about the tree but he didnt hear me and didn't see it untill the last second. No chance to do squat but say it then do it. Fortunately, there was enough foliage left on the tree to toss him over the main trunk but he still ended up with a torn nostril, 8 stitches across the brow, a permanently damaged wrist, destroyed glasses and 6 stitches next to his eye.

Now he wears his helmet. Period.

Isn't that also one of the reasons flags are required equipment on dunes? Would make EXCELLANT sense to me regardless as to how corney they might look.

So true, we play in a dangerous sport and it is just stupid to not take every percaution you can to save your ass from some serious pain. If you crash it is going to hurt bad enough with a helmet so save yourself some pain and where your helmet

That had to hurt especially since it was a Polaris tank! I can't figured out if this douche bag was trying to jump the other quad or if he just wasn't looking ahead. Riding at a public place like the dunes without a helmet is stupid. You can't trust other people.

I have to admit that I sometimes rip down the road on my quad without a helmet, but I almost always wear one. I learned my lesson when I was about 4. I was riding my go cart around our neighbor's field and the grass was so high that I didnt' see one of those mushroom-looking sewage pipes that sticks out of the ground. I hit that thing wide open on the go cart and my face slammed into the steering wheel. I got a broken nose and a wakeup call all at the same time.

i almsot always wear my helmet.. unless i go for a quick rip down the street... or i'm riding the XR... heres a funny no helmet story.... me adn 369 were playign aroudn riding double on the XR (it's very slow with 1 1/2 people on it 369 only counts as half becaseu she so damn light) well i was ripping down the street and got this great idea to go ripping though the ditch and slalom around the mailboxes down the street.. well i decided to go behind one mail box through some like 3 foot tall weeds.. i quickly found out why not to go back there... the rocks stacked up about a foot adn a half high stopped 369 and I very quickly.... i hit my unhelmeted head on the plastic (thankfully) mailbox... haha 369's leg was stuck under the bike... AND..... i looked under the formt wheel and in the hole in the ricks under the spokes... i had caged a rabbit... i picked up teh bike adn he ran away scared and unhurt.... 369 wasn;t hurt but she did whine about a small bruise on her leg for at least a week hahah just kiding fran

oh and flags are required in the dunes in MI.. for that reason... they dont; always work though..... i did see the after math of 2 quads jumping a dune and coliding a guy on a warrior disregarded the spotter for the guy on a YFZ450..... needless to say it required an ambulance.. for the guy riding the then new YFZ450.... with the very fucktified frame adn forn suspension... it actually broke a spinlde right in half and wrapped the arm back unto the foot peg.... the warrior that hit him wasn't bad at all and taht guy actually stayed riding the rest fo teh day.... it was too bad for the YFZ guy... the warrior dillhole should ahve gotten hurt.... he stole DT's gas cap the night before... IN THE RAIN and DT spent a good 2 hours draining all the gas and water out of his brand new Z400........
