I got some more pics, but haven't been able to upload them since the site had gone down.

I can tell you this though: This machine rips! Got a little pilot time on it now that I have front brakes and its just awesome. It sounds like an evil chainsaw (compared to my CR500). Vibration is minimal. I still need some 20" or smaller rear tires even using a 12/39 sprocket combination to be able to do any trail riding.

hey , im doing the same thing to a 1987 trx250x, except puttin in a 1984 aircooled cr500, bassically the same except chains on the other side and so is the exhaust, and i have a longer 250r swing arm on it, about 3 inch longer then the X, and a 6 inch wider axle then the X, i have the motor in and mounted but im having some indesion about the pipe, i see you just cut acouple bars out of the frame to makes yours fit, do you think that it will be strong enough like that? or did you weld or bolt some supports in any where?

500 cc 2-stroke 3 wheeler? OMG I gotta get me one of those.
my son has an atc 70 that the adults love and a friend has an atc 110, 185, and 250r trikes, but a 500? If that's not suicide, it's gotta be better than sex.

Hello everyone.

What I've been up to: I finally made a chain slider out of a block of nylon which makes the quad ridable for more than a couple minutes. I put screws in the tires so I could play out on the ice, which allowed me to find the weakest link: the exhaust.

I'll never braze another pipe. Welding over a broken braze is like lighting off one of those "golden shower" fireworks displays. Sparks everywhere!

I'll be doing some work on it this weekend to dampen bar vibration (very noticeable at the top end) and fix the kill switch. Hopefully there will be enough ice for one more day of riding so I can take some pics and video.

I placed BB's in the handlebar and caulked up each end, but I had to pack it in early today. I found a leak in the base cylinder gasket causing a lean condition. So much for playing on the ice. Here's some pics.

Kind of a superman color scheme.

Here's the nylon chain guide I finally got around to machining.

Currently using the CR480 shock, which is leaking oil.

A much needed piece of safety: the kill switch.

Great looking bike. You should get a 250x shock, it would be cheap and maybe take some of that steap angle out of the swinger. I also forgot to mention that your swingarm is upside down. I dont know if its on purpose or not but its definitely upside down. I think you could just flip the housing to get the chain on the opposite side without having to flip the swinger. I may be wrong though. I worked on my bros. X all summer and it seemed to me like it would work but maybe not. That way all you would have to do is weld the little bump for the rear caliper mount then modify it to fit the other side, since you definitely showed you can weld with all the work you did.

Thanks. Got a Works shock on the way. I know my swingarm is flipped; 480 motor? Rear caliper mount has already been cut and rewelded to work correctly on the left side. I'm just waiting on cash flow to rebuild the caliper.
