| It certainly wouldn't be a desert machine, but I'll be using it for the woods. Here's a pic of the new (used) Works shock courtesy of some dude from eBay. ![]() And here's the extra supports for the engine I had to make after tearing off three of the originals........dammit this thing has some torque. ![]()

| This thing has got to be nearly impossible to steer... Wheelies... Forget the killswitch... A functional rear brake system could really save your a**... lol... I love it... I can already hear some particular 4-stroke owners around here making thier excuses... I would really like to do something like this with mine. The trouble is out of every bike I have ever ridden(actually quite a few), I still like the handling of the CR480 the best. I just wish I could say the same for the forks and brakes... |

| If the CR480 had been in better shape I might have kept it. I would definitely have sourced some parts from something newer for brakes and front forks. Those drum brakes always felt like someone put grease on them. Left-side kick is normal to a left-handed person. What knucklehead decided to move it to the right side on my CR500? I do have the rear brake mount all welded and ready to go and a longer brake line. I just need to get a new caliper and rotor. Can't see from the pic but the rotor is warped and the caliper internals are wasted. ![]()

| It's getting cold out and seeing my buddy's quad got me working on my project again. It's been sitting all summer, but I recently did some work to it and ordered a few things. On the way is a new rear brake caliper, seat cover and some new plastic. I did some painting to the frame just to touch up the bare spots. I also worked on the exhaust a bit. I angled the muffler up more as someone suggested, and did some grinding/rewelding to the head pipe. I'll post pics when I get the parts in.

| Nice project man! The mega size pipe should let 4 pokes know not to mess with you. Honestly did the BB's help at all? You know everyone is gonna want to see video. I'm definitely gonna stay tuned.

| So I was staring at my carb the other day and thinking of how I could fab up some kind of spring for the idle screw because Sudco doesn't sell the spring (but they have the screw) when I remembered (for the second time: the first time I didn't want to use it and deal with jetting issues) that I have a Keihin PJ26C oval slide carb from my 89 CR250! I pulled it from storage and got to work. I'm much more confident with jetting now that I've done several carbs (both 2 and 4 stroke). Starting the 480 after it has been sitting for a week can be quite a ritual. This carb should have a much better pilot circuit than the original and will hopefully make starting much less of a ritual. I'm starting with a 185 main, 55 pilot and needle in the 3rd clip. The pilot might be too lean, but I won't know until after adjusting the airscrew and idle. The venturi is the same and so are the intake and air filter bells. This carb is much cleaner looking too. On another note, I've been looking at rear tires. I like Paulie B's Bearclaws on the 426 Blaster, but I also like the ITP Mudlites. I found the Mudlites being lighter by 8.5lbs per tire. Prices are about the same for either one. Does anyone have experience with either of these tires? Your opinion is wanted. ![]() ![]()
