Thanks. I've always loved the sound of a big-bore 2-stroke. But the 480 is loud.... maybe too loud with that minimalist DG silencer. At least for trail riding. I think I'm going to try making it quieter.

I have an idea. If it doesn't work it will at least look different when completed. I want to try to get this mod done for the RIOHVA trail ride this Sunday.

I would adapt a FMF Q or pro circuit type 296 from a 500 onto this beast... The air cooled big-block honda is still gonna be loud no matter what exhaust you put... Alot of noise is due to those nasty fins...

haha you should of heard my old shitty fmf fatty pipe and silencer i had on my R at one point, the silencer was cut down like 6 inches and had no packing, my ears would be ringing after i rode it

Well I didn't go through with my plan from the previous post, which was to have two of those DG silencers side-by-side (CRF250R style). I looked at it and said, ", more work I don't feel like doin." So I repacked the silencer and sealed up the joints with high temp RTV. Hpefully it will be slightly quiter.
