| I've never ridden a 400EX but I'm a huge fan of ANY hybrid design. It's the personification of a creative mind.

| the 400exs have great suspention but its a 4 poke and im not goin to a 4 poke after riding a 2 smoke. i love the feel of a 2 smoke and i do ride my dads z400 and race it untill have have my lt250r done and race ready. the 400exs are realy good at handling but the air cooled 4 poke motor is realy slow. my friend had one and it was not much faster than my 300ex but i liked the suspension and the frame geo. for me cuse im a big kid at 260 6'0". if i decide to do this its goin to be like the service handa trx250rr but better. |

| this is kinda funny, were actualy doing kinda the opposite of your project. we got a bored and stroked out honda 300ex motor in a honda 250r frame. we didnt actually build it though. we bought it from somebody for cheap cause it was just settin out side and the motor was locked up. but right now we're working on puttin the motor back together after a new rod and piston kit. and I think now its a 330cc. I cant wait to get it back together though and see how fast it is. I bet it will run with or beat a 400ex easy. we are gonna call it the honda 330rx when its done.

| The 400ex would make a sweet 2-stroke. and the R motor will save a ton of weight. The service honda ones(cr250 powered)are probably faster, but the counterbalanced engine will make for a much nicer bike. |

| I like the way you think. I don’t know too much about the 400ex frame geometry but it sounds like it could be a fun ride. You want to make sure that you line up the sprockets and make sure that your carb float bowl is almost level when it’s sitting in the frame. I have an 86 lt230 that I put a Honda atc motor in. I had to flip the suzuki front mounts and had to make the rear mounts and weld them to a cross bar on the frame. The only issues that I have with it are the swing arm bearings just don’t last to long and after changing them a couple of times I made my own bushings. They seem to be working ok. As for the vibration you won’t notice it that much until you ride for a long periods of time. That’s when it gets to your hands. The lt230 will wheelie in third with no problem. Dave |

| it seems there are some people here that will like this project that me and a buddy have been working on lately.its a 02 400ex chassis with a 98 rotax 257gs motor.it is counterbalanced,powervalved,6 speed,257cc,53hp.all about the same size as a mid ninteys cr 250 motor we just got it running the other day.im now working on jetting the new 38a/s carb but so far it rips!what do you guys think? |
