Default Project Tecate 3 questions

I know where I can find an 85 Tecate 3 with no engine. I just need to know if anyone out there knows if a KX500 engine would be basically a bolt in affair as far as motor mounts and chain alignment are concerned. I might also be interested in a KX250 engine, but I'd rather go with a 500. I'm just running Ideas thru my head, I can get stuff welded if necessary, but I'd rather not go there.

Not sure about the fitting. But that would be a good trike if you went through with it.

I might be....haha

well, I got onto 3wheelerworld.com and I got quite a few responses. Here's the story. The 84-85 T3's have the single down tube at the front of the frame, the 86-87's have the wishbone style tube. the 86 and 87's can get almost any 85 and up KX engine into them, and its a bolt in affair supposedly, because the exhaust comes out in the center of those engines and runs in between the 2 frame tubes. the 84-85 T3 cannot use the 85 and up engine because the single tube frame is in the way of the exhaust. in the 85 T3 I would have to go with an 84 or older KX engine because they have the exhaust coming out at an angle to miss the single down tube.

Back to the drawing board it looks like...
