| How much of a difference would a 1/2" reed spacer make (placed inbetween the engine and reeds)? Would the bottom end power increase be comparable to that of having your head shaved and milled (while still running pump gas)? Also, does adding a reed spacer go hand in hand with any other modifications? or just adding the spacer will make as much of a difference to a stock setup as it will to one with an aftermarket reed cage, carb... etc.? Thanks yall! |

for race gas,it is comparable to going one size down on front sprocket,in other words its not much, it adds no hp it just shifts power toward bottom a bit although for bikes with very smallish intake boxes it can be quite helpfull 1/2'' is too much 3/8'' is more of what you want and if you want power to shift toward topend then run spacer BEFORE reed cage manifold, spacers do require a small jetting change despite what alott of people say.i run one and feel it allows for a stronger mid range punch plus its shiny chrome and you cant go wrong with chrome(billet aluminum) ![]()

| i run one of those Moose reed spacers on my cr 250 motored blastered and it seems to give more mid to top end punch,i did notice just a slight loss of low end throttle response but not enough for me to take it off. |

| It just depends on whether your motor could benefit from more crankcase volume. They are usually more useful on a unported motor or a big bore where they are necessary. |

| to get technical its not to shoot atomized fuel into the boost port your transfers aid this pushing pulling fuel consuming effect on the down stroke ,the theory behind them(reed spacers) is alot more complex then to just better aim at the boost upper transfer port. larger volume expansion chambered and /or modified machines create more of a push pull effect of pulse waves through your motor this must be equal on intake side for maximum effeciancy reed spacers pull back reed intake which lowers crankcase compression (not static compression) this equals out the natural push pull sonic pulse effect and puts broader powerband hit near the midrange of its rpm, which his wear a 2 stroke makes most of its power ,this is why its more noticable on modified machines with higher rpm (higher exhaust timing)aftermarket exhaust systems and on ported cylinders
