Hi guys by no means is this a custom 2 stroke atm but I might get a bit crazy with it. I can’t find a moped section on here I thought we use to have one if we do just point me in the right direction. Any way I just got a 1987 trac moped I figured id tool around on a 2 stroke and save some of that 4.19 a gallon at the pumps right now. It is a 2 stroke it has a oil injector but it doesn’t look like its very trustworthy. I cant find much on these I don’t even know the model but I want to get it running it only starts for a second with a shot of spray so im going to have to work some magic. Any way if any one has any knowledge of these or has a site I can go to I would appreciate the help also what mix do you think you guys would go with on this little 50 cc job I use golden spec on my zilla so im just going to stay with that I was thinking a light pre-mix and some oil in the injector just incase it craps out im still staying lubed unless you guys think just to off the injector all together and run full premix. Thanks guys tj

Hi, I have three 50cc scooters and a few others I've worked on. Nothing like 100mpg! Anyway a very common problem is hard starting due to plugged jets/holes in the carburetors since they're so small. A thorough carburetor cleaning will usually get it running smoothly, and a new air filter is a good idea. A good website that I have found for scooter questions is hondaspree.net They have good information there about mopeds. As far as the oil injector, you can premix if you want at a lean ratio, say like 100 to 150:1 just to be safe. If you take the pump off, you'll have to mix it richer then. The little Honda Spree that I recently worked on didn't like the cheapo oil I was using, and it kept fouling plugs. It runs really well on the Amsoil I'm feeding it now, and I definitely recommend synthetic oil for any 2stroke.

thanks man 100 mpg realy i was hopeing or 50 or beter every one told me id only get that but i thougt i would get 60+ ive heard of 80 but 100 now im excited i will chek if the injector is working if not what premix would you recomend for total premix i use 4.6 gallons of gas to a bottle of golden (its a synthetic) on my zilla thats about 50:1 the bottle says at 5 gallons is 52:1 but i use just a toutch less gass to be safe and i dont foul or have problems and ive ben beating that thing up since ive been a member here ill also go look around the site u shot me and i thought carb first thing too i always clean all my carbs and put in a new plug on any thing i get used flush all the fluids and change over to my stuff i only paid 100.00 for it and it looks good only missing rear stop light with the blinkers and the engine cover most of these are about 400-800 around here and ive seen em for 1200 on craigs righ now i can get a new 150 for that kind of money jeez. thanks again

Yeah, I paid $45 for my 1985 Honda Spree from this old fella. But it was in pretty bad shape, and I worked on it off and on over the past year and got it running pretty smoothly. The Spree is kind of small though, and I have a 50cc Yamaha Razz that I like for longer rides because it's got just a bit more room to stretch out. They both get pretty respectable mileage, and the Spree really does get 100mpg if it's in good shape. My little xs400 motorcycle doesn't come close to the mileage of the mopeds, and it's only a 400cc bike! Good luck with the scooter.
